Ok, you know him. The iconic and gorgeous detective who will basically know who did it immediately through some kind of Columbo Spidey Sense. How does he do it? Perhaps the cigars give him powers.
What I love most about COLUMBO (the show) is often the weird, slow, esoteric, and often psychedelic feel it has. Man of the earlier episodes especially have really cool, artistic transitions and shots. And of course, Columbo himself feels a bit like a freakish angel who has been transported to the world of crime from somewhere else. We are connected to him through his “wife”. She is real, and she is human, like us. Yet, she is always unseen. She is always out of shot. Just as the Real, Actual Truth tends to be.
Columbo. Look at him. What a guy.
